Case Study - Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology

The Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology is a Division within APA that is also an organizational affiliate of APS. The Societys mission is to enhance human well-being and performance in organizational and work settings by promoting the science, practice, and teaching of industrial-organizational psychology.

SIOP had planned for a re-development of their existing site, much of the site was maintained and managed through HTML editors.  The task at hand required for an easy to use management system, the importation of the current website with the new system.  As well as the development and deployment of new functionality pieces that work with the new site.

SIOP also needed to incorporate existing applications within the site.

• Graphic designs were created and one was selected and approved by the visibility committee.
  
• Teraeon Consulting deployed the Ordinal™ Content Management System.
  
• Applications were created that imported website information into the new Content Management System
  
• Plugins were created to allow for site search, single sign on, and members area only sections
  
• Design template driven scripts were created and used on existing applications to have a uniform look and feel across the entire website.

The benefits to SIOP have been tremendous.  By separating the spheres of influence within the organization, site content management is handled by a single point of contact, and information flows to the website in a more streamlined fashion.  And the incorporation of existing applications not only reduced cost for SIOP, but also gave SIOP the ability to have their current investment in those applications last longer.
