Flannel Programming

Now that I caught your attention with the strange title of this post, I will explain to you what flannel programming means.  Any good developer and/or consultant should have some way of separating their applications into different layers.  This is usually called a “Pattern”. Creating a Lean Enterprise Step 1

“A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked. The inverse proposition also appears to be true: A complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be made to work. You have to start over, beginning with a working simple system.” Galls Law

The first step in creating a lean enterprise is to first assess all your systems. Find out where these systems overlap and then see if these can be integrated. You would be surprised how much functionality and data is duplicated across your enterprise environment. In some cases the duplication is needed, but in the vast majority of cases the processes can be streamlined through either automated processes or removing the duplicate areas altogether.

Teraeon Announces plans for Ordinal Content Management System upgrade

IBM plans major security initiative – Yahoo! News

BOSTON – IBM Corp. plans to announce Thursday that it will boost what it spends developing computer security products to $1.5 billion in 2008, reflecting an intensifying focus for the company.
IBM executives would not say how much they used to spend. But analyst Charles King of Pund-IT Research said he believes $1.5 billion would be twice what IBM traditionally spends on security research and product development each year. (more…)

SCP Launches New Website

Society of Consulting Psychology has launched it’s new website – www.div13.org. The new website has multiple new capabilities including:

  • A Password Protected Members Only Section
  • A Consultant Locator that enables the public to search for Div 13 members by
    their specialization. (You’ll need to add yourself to this locator from the “My Profile” section.
  • A Membership Directory where members can search for other members.
  • Automated job posting
  • An online bookstore via Amazon.com that will also help to raise revenue for
    SCP. Please purchase all Amazon products through our portal to help support SCP.
  • The ability to register for Division 13 online using a credit card
  • The ability to register for Distance Learning Programs onlne using a credit card
  • A members only forum/bulletin board that is integrated into the
    actual website (compared to current online forum that is separate from
    website)
